Thoughts For Young Men

Six Years - Now What?

                                          Six Years - Now What?
This March issue of the Wisconsin Christian News will mark the sixth year of placing articles in this paper. Where have we gone over the six years, and how do things look at this point? This article will give you another update of our ministry.
Gospel Light Ministries was created in the late 90's as an outreach to primarily the Roman Catholics and expanded over the years to the lost in general. The Bible tells us of our need to get right with Jesus. The Bible  tells us, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there  are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." (Matthew 7:13, 14) A closer  look into the Bible also reveals to us that, “There
is none  righteous, no, not one," and "for all have sinned and
fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:10, 23). These are not
words of men, but rather the Word of God.
Now if we're honest, and willing to admit it, people are people. It
would be hard to find a person that really thinks of themselves as
being that bad  of a person. Actually most would consider that when they die, the Lord will see that their good outweighs their bad
moments in life. That underlying sense of pride is the first thing that must go if your goal is to reach Heaven. Jesus told us that, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." (John  3:3 and 3:5)
Our ways must turn to become the way of the Lord's. But of course, everyone assumes that they are that way already because  of the religion they belong to or the particular faith in which they were raised. Just ask a Catholic, a Lutheran or any other faith, and  you most likely will get  that type of an answer. The problem is that people are comparing each other instead of checking out how God rates them
with Scriptures.
Another problem is that people have a general lack of knowledge of how valuable the Bible is, or vastness of knowledge that they or anyone can get from the Bible. The primary idea out in the public is
that the Bible has mistakes and/or that not everything is found in the Bible. Connect that with the idea that the individual generally trusts in their parents to have brought them up right and you are likely to a
world like ours, that is, they are blind to the truth of what is important in the Spiritual realm.
In the past year, I've spent many hours dealing with people in a newspaper forum  that show this lack of belief in the Bible's richness and applicable instructions. Paul wrote of the value of Scriptures saying, "For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach
the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ  should be made of no effect. For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are
being saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:17, 18)
Jesus told us, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.  And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John :31,32).
Furthermore, without really checking Scriptures out themselves, a person will likely repeat the same mistakes that some instructor would have told them, saying, "We cannot understand Scripture by
ourselves, we need a Church."  or that they just aren’t capable of understanding what God wants. Often times when they have a
Scripture passage misquoted or taken out of context, the result can
be devastating. Satan has no problem saying some Scripture verse
as if it was factual but knowing that He is the master deceiver, we
must be like the Bereans of Acts 17:7 and check everything out with God’s word ourselves.
We at Gospel Light have written many articles on these things. And they are all available to the individual that asks for a copy, free of charge. This past year I’ve met with a strong apologist of Roman Catholicism  that has his   own website promoting Catholicism and voicing his strong opinions of how wrong I am. I've written many
articles to show how often religious faiths such as Lutherans,
Moslems and yes, Catholics as well, can deceive its members. Our hope is that the reader would check out for themselves the
misleading of those faiths. I've also written about new dangers out in the public such as the angers of the growing Emerging Church and things like Christian Mystics being just two of them.
The past year I've had a few personal adjustments in my life as well. I was forced to medically retire from my job in the papermill because
of my Parkinson’s disease. I didn't get too worried, though, because the Lord does truly take care of His Children. This coming year of
2009 will present more challenges for me as I continue to rely on Scriptures to be the light of my life. I see in the near future of the growing
problem amongst Christians of apathy, not   being motivated to fight Satan, myself included.
As times get worse than ever and the prophecies of the end times
fast approaching, I have written a few articles about things like the coming rapture that I hope to be published this year, knowing that Satan will attempt to shut down Gospel Light Ministries or any other Christian group. My goal, with a brand new website, for the 2009 year will be the same, to prayerfully continue to get the message out to the lost. That message is that we are saved, "not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His
mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit." (Titus 3:5)
The hateful disbelief of the holy Word of God, the Bible, will continue
to be fought at Gospel Light. The Holy Spirit uses the Bible to teach
us about God, with the Bible even referring to Scriptures as, “the sword of the spirit.”  (Ephesians 6:17) His love for us is so real on the pages of Scripture, yet unbelievers look at the Bible as if we    didn't have a loving God, but rather a vengeful, war-monger type of god. And there is that natural growing public view of tolerance and
relevance that continues to say, "who's to say what is right?"
prevailing in our society. along with the general apathy that persists in our lives. These will be two of the battles that we’ll be dealing with this year.
The main thing for 2009 is that we continue preaching the Gospel of the grace of Jesus Christ and that by faith in his finished work done at Calvary, we can be saved. This is the saving message given at Gospel Light Ministries.
